Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

NICE [National Institute for Health and Care Excellence] recommends CBT as a short-term therapy well-suited for the treatment of anxiety and depression. CBT theory proposes that negative thoughts and beliefs significantly impact on our emotions and behaviours and that understanding and challenging these can help us to feel better. The therapy involves working collaboratively to set specific goals and then learning and practising strategies in order to restructure unhelpful cognitive thoughts and behaviours.
